Egypt was blessed by the Holy Family and Jesus. Egypt is often mentioned in the Bible, and has changed from symbol of slavery for the people of God to the shelter which he picked to protect his only Begotten Son. While following his steps in Egypt, we will always remember that he loved us and he suffered all kinds of things that life brings for us, even fleeing for his life. He is the protector of everyone.

Also, we will visit the unique sites of Queen Nefertiti and King Akhenaten who believed in One God, see beautiful tombs for the king and the queen and Nobles with unique carvings and vivid colors.

We top our experience with cruising the Nile with its beautiful scenery while visiting the Highlights of Egypt Temples and Tombs such as the Valley of Kings.

Day 1 arrival at Cairo airport

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met by an Edu Travel representative who will assist you through visa and passport control, immigration formalities at Cairo airport, and then transfer you to your hotel in Cairo. Overnight Cairo, D.

Day 2 Egyptian Museum Coptic Cairo Maadi Church – Sailboat Ride

After breakfast, you will be briefed by your Egyptologist about your trip, then you will start by visiting the National Museum of Cairo and experience what the Holy Family felt when they arrived in Egypt and were amazed by its colossal, statues and Temples. You, too, will be astonished when you view the great sculptures, statues, the jewelry of Tut-Ankh-Amon, and the royal mummies of the Great Pharaohs whom are related to the Biblical accounts of Egypt.

Then we visit the most popular sight of Old Cairo which is built in the 5th Century, the Basilica of Abu Serga Church to mark the cave of the Holy Family where they hid for 3 months with visits to the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Famous Hanging Church.

Then drive to the Virgin Mary Church at Beautiful district of Maadi where they stayed in a cave before sailing upriver to Upper Egypt.

We top this beautiful day with a sailboat ride opposite the church, but we are not following the Holy Family to Upper Egypt for now, but enjoying the beautiful views and the peacefulness of the Nile. Overnight Cairo, B, L, D.

Day 3 Mostorod – Tel Basta Belbes Suez Canal

After rich buffet breakfast, we will start our experience today by visiting Belbes which is the first station for the Holy Family in the Delta after traveling all the way from Jerusalem through Sinai and the Eastern Delta. After we visit the Church of Virgin Mary we will drive to one of the most famous ancient

Cult centers of the cat goddess Bastet, which is named after her Tel Basta, where according to church tradition all the statues and temples of this famous city trembled down before Jesus. Finally we drive to the Suez Canal to have lunch in a nice hotel overlooking the Suez Canal, and drive back to Cairo. Overnight Cairo, B, L, D

Day 4 Pyramids – Wadi Natrun Monasteries Anafora

We start today with one of the highlights of aAncient Egypt, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx and try to imagine the Impression of the Holy Family upon seeing them Next we drive to Wadi Natrun to visit one of the most populated sites that the Holy Family visited in Egypt, which grew to be a huge center for monks and monasteries. Four monasteries date back to the 4th Century. We will have a visit with one of the monks, tour the monastery, see beautiful frescos, learn about Coptic Monasticism will enrich us spiritually and mentally. Then we drive to Anafora, a place of great natural beauty, where the Coptic Church made it a center for rehabilitation of the boys and girls who have been abused by any means. Meeting with its bishop will give us an idea about their great work. We will walk in the farms, pray in a church, visit its new cut churches, and spending the night there on a farm will complete our experience. Overnight at Anafora. B, L, D.

Day 5   Gabal Al Teir – Beni Hassan Tombs – Overnight Al Minya

We depart from the Anafora, and drive to Gabal El Teir (5 hour drive) until we arrive at Gabal El Teir where there is a basilica; according to Church traditions, it was the hiding place of the Holy Family and where the Queen Helen built this basilica. In addition, there is a stone with the palm print of the baby Jesus. The place is of great beauty with a commanding view of the Nile from the cliff where the church is built. After visiting we will drive to Beni Hassan Tombs of the Rulers of the Oryx Nome no. 14 of Upper Egypt, we will see unique carvings and colored scenes of daily life activities, cultivation and harvest, wrestling, making wine, and fishing and hunting going back 4000 years. We check into our lovely hotel at Al Minya for dinner and overnight

Day 6 Deir Abu Hinnes – Tell el Amarna

This morning we will drive to two of the most important and famous sites in the world, Deir Abu Hinnes and its fifth century church.  The most important location related to the Holy Family is Kom Maria ‘the hill of Maria’, a slightly elevated hill of sand just outside the village, where the Holy Virgin is said to have rested. There is a chance to meet with the Bishop of Mallawi who will speak to us about the 4th Century Manuscript which registers the Holy Journey in Egypt.

Remarkable in this area are the dozens of sixth century hermit caves and the rock-cut church in the mountains between Dayr Abu Hinnis and Dayr al-Barsha. On walls of caves, one will see the beautiful murals of the archangel instructing Joseph to take the Holy Family to Egypt, and the King Herod giving orders to slay the children of Bethlehem. These are among the oldest murals in the world depicting the Fight into Egypt.

Then we drive to Tell el Amarna, the Sight of the Famous King Akhenaten and his beautiful wife Nefertiti. We will see tombs with beautiful carvings and colors for the first king who believed in monotheism and how he is related to the Bible. Also we will see remains of Akhenaten & Nefertiti’s Palaces and the god Aten’s temple. Then we return to our hotel enriched with today’s unique experiences. Hotel at Al Minya dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Ashmunein – Deir al Muharraq – Overnight Assyuit

We check out of the Hotel and then drive to el Ashmunein which was once named Hermopolis Magna a prosperous metropolis in Greco- Roman times. Today only ruins of the colossal Corinthian columns of the ancient basilica, dating to the 5th century, remain intact.

Then we drive to Monastery of the Virgin Mary known as Al Muharraq Monastery Deir al Muharraq, According to tradition, this is the place that the Holy Family stayed for six months and five days, and where Jesus, after his Resurrection, returned and consecrated an altar in order to fulfill the prophecy in Isaiah 19:19, in that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt. The location of the monastery is roughly the geographical center of the African Egypt.

The holiest place in the monastery is the Church of the Holy Virgin whose altar is believed to be consecrated in the first century A.D making it the first church in the world. It has a beautiful collection of the icons from the 18th and 19th century. Assyuit Hotel Dinner and* overnight

Day 8   Luxor – Karnak & Luxor Temples – Nile Cruise.

We check out of the Hotel and drive to Luxor. Upon arrival, we will check on our Nile cruise, our home for 4 days/3 nights full board. After lunch we will visit the Great Temple of Karnak and Luxor, with free time at Luxor market. Return to the Nile Cruise for dinner and overnight. B, L, D

Day 9 Valley of Kings – Hatshepsut – Sailing to Edfu.

After buffet Breakfast, we will visit the world-famous Valley of Kings to see the burials of the most powerful rulers in the ancient world, learn about art and architecture as well as interesting myths and beliefs of the Egyptians about the afterlife. Then we drive to the unique temple of the famous female ruler of ancient Egypt, Queen Hatshepsut, and a temple of unique and magnificent architecture.

We end our visit with the Colossi of Memnon, remains of the temple of the famous king Amenhotep III, grandfather of the boy-king Tut-Ankh-Amon. We return to the Nile cruise for lunch and sailing to Edfu through the Lock of Esna and overnight. B, L, D

Day 10 Edfu Temple – Kom Ombo Temple – Aswan

After breakfast we will board horse-carriages visit to the Temple Horus of Edfu, the best preserved temple of the ancient world built by the Ptolemaic kings over a course of 180 years, then return to the Nile Cruise and sail towards Kom Ombo, a dual temple built for two brother-gods, the evil Crocodile Sobek, and the Good Falcon Harroris, which we believe was a health center, and a custom city in the past with important carvings for the calendar and the medical iinstruments. Then we sail to Aswan city and overnight. B, L, D

Day 11 High Dam – Philae Temple – Sail boat Ride.

After breakfast, we will check out of the Nile Cruise, and enjoy a sail boat ride on the Nile, then visit the Temple of Philae on an island and drive over the British Dam to visit the High Dam of Aswan, then to the Aswan airport to fly back to Cairo. Arrive at Cairo and check into the hotel. Overnight Cairo.

Day 12 Flight Home

Departure to Cairo airport to fly home, arriving the same day enriched with a once in a lifetime experience. Flight B.
